Abstract
Ego state therapy is used successfully in the context of individual, family and group psychotherapy. Historically transactional analysis has developed as group treatment. However, the usual course is to begin with a structural analysis. In this respect, each individual patient in the group becomes aware when he is thinking, feeling and behaving as a Parent; when he is thinking, feeling and behaving as Adult; and when he is thinking, feeling and behaving as a Child. The diagnosis of different Ego states can be made from the behavior of the individual, his attitudes and his gestures; etc… the voice of the patient is also important. It is well known that an individual has two or three different voices that he uses in different circumstances and awareness of this fact is made available to the patient.
This study aims at:
- Theoretical and clinical study of Ego States theory.
- Study of its application in various psychotherapy models, specially group psychotherapy.
